Síntesis panorámica, en una perspectiva mundial, de las vivencias de los católicos mexicanos y de su Iglesia desde fines del siglo XIX hasta hoy, desde la antigua situación de monopolio religioso de una Iglesia estrechamente ligada a la gran institución eclesiástica transnacional de la Santa Sede hasta el pluralismo actual, marcado por el surgimiento de iglesias evangélicas.
