Resumen
El trabajo es un acercamiento a la dinámica establecida por algunos ingenieros, hacendados y empresarios en su pugna por apropiarse parcialmente del agua del río Lerma a su paso por tierras de Jalisco. Se observan algunas prácticas de apropiación y estrategias de uso y consumo del agua en un momento clave del desarrollo industrial del estado, y de modificación de paradigma tecnológico: la introducción de la electricidad con fuerza hidráulica. Se observa cómo la transición de la pequeña a la gran hidráulica dio oportunidad de desarrollar las mejores habilidades de los ingenieros-hacendados. Engineers, Ranchers and Businessmen Conflicts over Water Control and Usage in the Lerma River in Jalisco in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries This work is an approach to the dynamics set among some engineers, landowners and businessmen in their struggle to partially appropriate the water of Lerma River that crossed their land in Jalisco. The article is focused on the practices of appropriation and usage strategies as well as on water consumption in a key moment for the industrial development of Jalisco, and the modification of the current technological paradigm at that time: the introduction of electricity with hydropower.
