Entre esculturas y escultores. La Plaza de los Jaliscienses Ilustres (1953-2015)

Resumen

En este artículo se expone la composición de la rotonda de los Jaliscienses Ilustres, en el centro de Guadalajara. En especial se resalta la dimensión artística de sus esculturas: quiénes están representados y quiénes los esculpieron. Además del valor patrimonial de las piezas y el trabajo de los escultores, se consideran algunas de las implicaciones políticas de este espacioconmemorativo y su función en la construcción de la memoria histórica de los jaliscienses.   Among sculptures and sculptors: The plaza de los Jaliscienses Ilustres (1953-2015)   This article describes the physical features of the plaza de los Jaliscienses Ilustres, located in downtown Guadalajara, Jalisco. It focuses on the artistic values of the sculptures of the notable historical figures represented there and the artists who created them. In addition to the patrimonial value of the pieces and the finework of the sculptors, the essay examines some of the political implications of this commemorative space and its role in the construction of the historical memory of the people of Jalisco.   DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.31836/lh.19.6724
