Abstract
From a multidisciplinary perspective, this article proposes the concept of ‘women “in” international migration’ in order to acknowledge the specificities and diverse experiences that women have encountered in migratory processes. Specifically, we examine the women’s participation in the processes of generating, sending, receiving, and managing remittances between Mexico and the United States from 1964 to 2008. This research was conducted based on statistical data, documentary testimonies, and interviews that collectively highlight the significance of their gender condition.
