Abstract
Las mujeres se preocuparon y ocuparon del conocimiento de las hierbas y los animales en sus usos alimenticio y medicinal, así como del desafío presentado para ser aceptadas como alumnas de la Escuela Nacional de Medicina en una de las áreas de las ciencias de la salud que ejercían empíricamente: la farmacéutica. En el siglo XIX las curanderas y herbolarias eran consideradas en dos vertientes: como la mujer sabia, la sanadora, y como la hechicera capaz de hacer maleficios.
