Resumen
El propósito del presente trabajo es examinar las acciones que, por influencia de los planteamientos de la eugenesia, implementaron las instituciones de salud pública en México y Jalisco durante el periodo posrevolucionario. A través de dichas acciones se pretendió conformar una población fuerte, sana y vigorosa (física y moralmente), que pudiera contribuir a la meta de la reconstrucción nacional, la prosperidad económica y la modernización. El análisis se centra en cuatro áreas: el cuidado de la infancia, la sexualidad y la maternidad, el combate del alcoholismo y la lucha contra la lepra. Eugenics and public health in the Mexico and Jalisco post-revolutionary The purpose of this paper is to examine the actions that were implemented by the influence of postulates of eugenics tothe public health institutions in Mexico and Jalisco during the postrevolutionary period. Through these actions, it was intended to form a strong, healthy and vigorous population (physically and morally), which could contribute to reach the goal for the national reconstruction regarding economic prosperity and modernization.
